سلامي على وادي السحيل سلامي

My greetings to the Valley of al-Suḥayl—my greetings.
My greetings to the valley of al-Saḥīl, my greetings,
Though I was filled with longing and passion for it,
Though I am filled with longing for it and ardent love.
قضيتI spent بهin it أيامdays عيسىJesus ابنson of مريمMary
قضيت به أيام عيسى ابن مريم
وأصبحتand I became منهfrom it يوسفيّJoseph-like المقامthe station
وأصبحت منه يوسفيّ المقام
There I passed the days of Jesus, son of Mary,
I spent there days like those of Jesus, son of Mary,
And through it became Joseph-like in my sojourn.
And through it I became Joseph-like in station.
