مشاعر الحب نبض في مجاريها

تملي الخواطر والإحساس يوحيها

Love's feelings are a pulse in their channels,

They dictate thoughts, and feeling inspires them.

يحوم كل فؤاد قبل مبعثه

حتى يحيى أمانيه ويحيها

Every heart hovers before its awakening,

Until it greets its wishes and brings them to life.

صوت الضمير متى ناداك في عمل

لبته نفسك حيث الفكر حاديها

Whenever the voice of conscience calls you in a task,

Your soul answers it, where thought is its singing guide.

هي العواطف أزهار ملقحة

بين القلوب بكف الحب نجنيها

These emotions are pollinated flowers;

Between hearts, we pluck them with the palm of love.

كل لغيره قبل الود مفتقر

هو الحياة وهذا كل ما فيها

Each needs another before affection;

It is life, and this is all that is in it.

انظر إلى الكون تلق الكل متصلا

بالبعض عن حكمة أما تراعيها

Look at the universe: you will find all things connected

To one another out of wisdom—do you not heed it?

للجاذبية مجذوبية لزمت

ومنهما ارتبط العالي بدانيها

Attraction necessarily entails being drawn;

And through both, the lofty is linked to its low-lying counterpart.

قد أودع الله سرا في عوالمها

يدعى الهوى وهو اس في مبانيها

God has placed a secret in its worlds,

Called love, and it is a foundation in their structures.

فالحب حينئذ سر الوجود وكم

في خلقه من معان لست تحصيها

So love, then, is the secret of existence—and how many

Meanings lie in His creation that you cannot count!
