I turn a blind eye to a friend's faults to avoid estrangement,

I overlook a friend to avoid him

for without turning a blind eye, I would live friendless.

Where but for overlooking I'd live alone

لك عونان بالحقوق وضعفي

ولهذا قد انتصرت عليا

ولهذا قد انتصرت عليا

You have two allies: rights and my weakness;

You have two helpers for the rights but I am weak

and for this reason you have triumphed over me.

And so you have triumphed over me

كيف لا يغلبان ذانك مثلي

كيف لا يغلبان ذانك مثلي

والضعيفان يغلبان قويا

How could those two not defeat someone like me,

How can the two of them not defeat the likes of me

when two weak men can defeat a strong one?

When the weak can overcome the strong
