واسمعينـي في نـحيـبي
Echo my heartbeat after me,
Recite after me, and hear me in my lament
Repeat after me and answer,
And hear me in my sobbing.
Realize my love, woe to me
And hear me amidst my wailing.

من تَجَـنِّيـك الغـريبِ
Understand my love—so woe to me
From your estrangement, O stranger
Realize my devotion, for woe is me
From your strange mistreatment!
And have mercy on a suffering heart
From your strange cruelty.

That found no solace or cure from the healer
And have mercy on a wounded heart
That found at the physician's
Should not my beloved fear
That found not with the physician

My heart has become my enemy
Does my beloved not fear

ـدتُ بالدمـع الصبيبِ
My responses whenever I threat-
So my mind must be its keeper
My reactions whenever I issue
-en with streaming tears?
Why did I become flawed in the eyes of my family and friends?
Threats of pouring tears?

Indeed, my heart was deemed my foe;
Do you think I'm fine
Indeed my heart is considered my enemy,
So let my mind be my guardian.
When my silence is but weeping?
So let my mind be my guardian.

صِـرْتُ فيـهم كالمعيبِ؟
Why, among my kin and then my friends,
Is it because I'm lovelorn and honest to my beloved?
Why is it that to my family, then my friends,
Have I become like someone flawed?
Drowning in a terrible wave
I have become like a disgrace?

Do you think that I am well,
When will my imagination come an inch closer to my flame?
Do you see me as perfectly whole,
When my silence is my sobbing?
I used to live in harmony
When my silence is my very wailing?

Is it because I am in love, complain-
Now I suffer estrangement
Is it because I am a passionate,
-ing, truthful to the beloved?
Yet I did not obey the opinion of my mind about the loved one
Complainer, truly faithful to the beloved?

Here I am, alone in sorrow;
It had warned me against hurting her or bizarre suicide!
Here I am, alone in my sorrow,
I have plunged into a fearsome wave.
For my soul has become yours
Plunging into a terrifying wave.

So whenever my imagination takes wing,
Like a captive
Whenever my imagination wanders,
I draw a handspan nearer to my blaze.
Let my tears bear witness
I draw a span closer to my flames.

Since no one responds to my call
I used to live in harmony,
Now I dwell in unsettling estrangement.
O my healer, it is you who hurt me
Now I dwell in suspicious estrangement.

You are no longer meant for me
Yet I did not obey
My mind's counsel in recent times.
You betrayed me, nothing dubious in this from you
The judgment of my mind recently,

My mind has left me
Which forbade me from such rebellion
And this strange suicide of mine!
Perplexed on the fateful day
And this strange suicide of mine!

For my soul, because of you, has become
The day I buried my love
For my soul, because of you, has become
Like one despoiled in its love for you.
And said: away with the stranger!
In your love, like one plundered.

Since that day my star has certainly declined
Let my tears bear witness,
For no one responds.
I used to be a desired beloved
Since there is no one to answer.

يا طبيبي، منـك دائـي

لمْ تَعُـدْ لي، من نصيبي
O my physician, my illness comes from you;
With the right opinion
O my physician, my illness comes from you,
You are no longer mine—no longer my allotted share.
I became miserable and disgraced
You are no longer mine, no longer my share.

There is treachery in you; to me,
Hiding the shameful secret
In you is treachery, which I do not
Coming from you, it is no doubtful matter.
Maybe I was wrong one day
Consider a surprising act from you.

Indeed, my reason deserted me;
Confess to me, I will respond
Indeed, my mind has left me,
I lost my way on that harrowing day.
I have come to ask for a meeting
I was lost on that difficult day,
يومَthe day أنْwhen أقْبَـرْتI buried ودّيmy affection

قلت:بُعْـداً للـغريبِ
The day I buried my affection,
I wish you would respond
The day you buried my affection,
I said, "Away with the stranger!"
In it we'd end every bond
And said: 'Away with the stranger!'

From that day on, surely,
That remained a shackle, O beloved
Since that day, inevitably,
My star inclined toward setting!
Gather my heart's dreams
My star has leaned toward setting!

I used to be beloved and desired,
A man of sound judgment.

A possessor of sound judgment,

For a time soon to come!
I returned distressed and humiliated,
Concealing a shameful secret.
Concealer of a shameful secret.

Speak clearly, confess, and answer.

That has remained a shackle, my beloved!
That has remained a shackle, O my beloved!

Gather the dreams of my heart,
For they are within my spacious breast.
For they lie in my spacious chest,

And keep them in a heart's sheath,
And preserve them in its very core,
Even if only for a short while!
If only for a little while!
