    فكيف بنا يوماً إذا مَا تَرَحَّلُوا

    We are mad with longing for them, even while we are near them;

Then how shall we fare one day when they depart?

So neither solace nor sorrow will ever avail me,

Nor will weeping and wailing ever come to my aid.

    وليلىِ إذا أُمسِى جوىً وتململُ

    My day, when morning comes, is brooding and bewilderment;

And my night, when evening comes, is heartache and restlessness.

My lot from those I love is rejection and separation,

And from the people of my time, gloaters and reproachers.

It sparkles with radiance and light, as though it were

Suns shining forth in perfect brilliance.

Joy to you, Imam of the Muslims, in it and in

Dwelling there, with enemies kept at a distance.

And may people who cherish your affection rejoice in it,

Among all humankind, young and mature alike.

So blessed are you, O house of Ya'rub, for you

Have risen among the kingdoms with auspicious fortune.

And may you ever remain in blessings and honor,

Through time, in the highest, most honored station.

And live on, O young man, Sultan Sayf ibn Malik,

Scion of Zahran, the exalted king,

With deep-rooted sovereignty, in everlasting bliss,

And a life of ease adorned with congratulations.

And in the year of a thousand, with eight completing it,

And a hundred as well, in every hopeful one's reckoning.
