ثلاثٌ تُغَطِّى العيبَ عمن يحوزُها

ثلاثٌ تُغَطِّى العيبَ عمن يحوزُها

وتنفى كلامَ الناسِ عنه إذا نَبَا

وتنفى كلامَ الناسِ عنه إذا نَبَا

Three things conceal the faults of whoever possesses them,

And ward off people's talk about him when he falters:

عطاءٌ وحالٌ واسعٌ وسيادة

عطاءٌ وحالٌ واسعٌ وسيادة

ولو لم يَرَوْنَ فيه عقلا ولا لُبَّا

ولو لم يَرَوْنَ فيه عقلا ولا لُبَّا

Generosity, ample means, and eminence,

Even if they see in him neither reason nor good sense.
