ألا فاعذرانِي إن عتبتُ عليكما

وإن أنا أهديتُ الملامَ إليكما

وإن أنا أهديتُ الملامَ إليكما

Pray, forgive me if I have reproached you both,

Forgive me if I reproach you both,

And if I have offered you both reproach.

And if I direct blame towards you,

لأَنكما أنكرتماني مودةً

لأَنكما أنكرتماني مودةً

قديما كأني ما أقمت لدلكما

قديما كأني ما أقمت لدلكما

For you both denied me the affection

Because you denied me affection

Of old, as though I had never dwelt with you both.

As if I had never stayed with you,

وقلتَمْ مقالا يحزن القلبَ بعضُه

وقلتَمْ مقالا يحزن القلبَ بعضُه

ولو لم تقولاه فمَاذَا عليكُما

ولو لم تقولاه فمَاذَا عليكُما

And you uttered words, some of which grieve the heart;

And you said words that grieve the heart -

Had you both not said them, what would it have cost you?

Even if you hadn't said them, what would it cost you?

أردّدُ فكرى فيكما كل ساعةٍ

أردّدُ فكرى فيكما كل ساعةٍ

وحاشاكما والحقُّ بين يديكمُا

وحاشاكما والحقُّ بين يديكمُا

I turn my thoughts to you both every hour,

I turn my thoughts to you every hour,

And far be it from you both—with the truth before you.

God forbid it's you - the truth is before you.
