1. سلامٌ وتسليمٌ وألفٌ تحيةٍ

    وصفوُ وِدادٍ لا يكدره الدهرُ

    Peace, salutation, and a thousand greetings,

    And pure affection that time does not cloud;

  2. وذكرُ جميلٍ معْ فضائل جمةٍ

    وإسداء معروف يكرره الشعرُ

    And gracious remembrance, with abundant virtues,

    And kindness bestowed, which poetry repeats;

  3. وحمدٌ جزيلٌ في معانٍ كأنها

    قلائدُ عِقيان تضمنها دُرُّ

    And lavish praise in sentiments that resemble

    Necklaces of pure gold enfolded in pearls,

  4. بجيدِ فتاةٍ بنتِ عشر وأربعٍ

    كأن أساريعاً أنامِلُها العَشْرُ

    Upon the neck of a fourteen-year-old maiden,

    As though her ten fingers were caterpillars.

  5. أخصُّ به الزاكى سلالة ماجد

    محمد الحامى هو الباسلُ الذَّمرُ

    I dedicate this to the virtuous scion of a noble man:

    Muhammad the Protector—he is valiant and dauntless.

  6. يَسرك مَلقاه ويهديك رَأْيه

    يواسيك بالحُسْنى إذا مسَّك الضرُّ

    Meeting him delights you, and his counsel guides you;

    He comforts you with kindness when hardship touches you.

  7. فإن كنتَ في شكٍّ لما أنَا واصفٌ

    فسلْ عنه يخبرك المجاورُ والسفْرُ

    So if you doubt what I describe,

    Then ask about him; neighbors and travelers will tell you.

  8. سأثنى عليه ما حييتُ وإنْ أمُت

    فلا لومَ يعرونى إذا ضمّنى القبرُ

    I shall praise him as long as I live, and if I die,

    Then no blame shall befall me when the grave enfolds me.

  9. وليس معى مالٌ أُكافئه به

    ولكن سأدعو أن يطالَ له العُمرُ

    And I have no wealth with which to repay him,

    But I shall pray that his life be prolonged.

  10. وصلِّ على خير البريةِ أحمدٍ

    شفيعِ البرايَا مَنْ له الملك والأمْرُ

    And send blessings upon Ahmad, the best of creation,

    Intercessor for all creatures, O You to whom dominion and command belong:

  11. صلاةً توالى ما لها قطُّ غايةٌ

    ولم يحوِها نظمٌ ولم يحْوِها نَثْرُ

    Blessings that follow one another, never reaching an end,

    And which neither verse nor prose has encompassed.
