رجوعٌ لأيام الشباب الغوابرِ
My two friends, is there, after the years that have slipped away,
My beloved, after the fleeting years
A return to the bygone days of youth?
Is there a return to the days of vanished youth?

And have the neighbors at the bend parted company,
Are the neighbors at the bend still together
Or are they gathered together in the grounds of Hajir?
Or has the group dispersed in the courtyards of Hajar?

عهوداً تناساهن أمْ غيرُ ذاكرِ
And does that beloved who went far away remember
Does that beloved who went away
Pledges deliberately forgotten—or remember them no more?
For eras that made him forget - does he still remember?

When we passed by the abodes that were deserted
We watered their soil from the tear-ducts of our eyes.
We watered their remains from the rainwater reservoirs

So we remained there crying - but does crying avail
Around the courtyards of those fading ruins?
In the expanses of the courtyards with fading paintings?

A delicate supple waist weaker than my thinness
And buttocks like a mound of sand, filling her waist-wraps.
And a bottom the size of a sand dune, filling the robes
