My companion is burdensome; if the earth could reason,

it would refuse, in obedience to God, to let him tread upon the earth.

And if the fire of God knew that he

was meant for it, it would swear by God: 'I am not pleased with him.'

And he is one whose companions found the world too narrow

because of his vile manners, and became sick because of him.

Because of him, I have grown weary of my life, of reward, and of humankind,

and of my companions, and all creation, and length and breadth.
