إن شُبْهَتْ ظُلِمَتْ ببَدْرِ تمَامِ
Fair-skinned, bright of breast, a graceful maiden,
White, conspicuous lineage, Ghadha
if compared to a full moon, she is wronged.
If likened, she becomes dark with the full moon

شمساً تلأُلأُ تحتَ جُنحِ ظلامِ
The phantom heard of her; I imagined her brow
The imagination heard her, so her forehead became empty
a sun glittering beneath the wing of darkness.
A glittering sun under the wings of darkness

She spent the night pouring out affectionate reproaches to me,
She started sending me regret affectionately
and dispensing cups of wine from her mouth.
And thinking about the cups of wine in it

So I answered her, I do not want the unlawful
far be it from one like me to commit a forbidden deed.
It’s inconceivable for the likes of me to commit sins

I was tested but I am not one of those who if alone
with a maiden, drag the trailing skirts of sin.
With a flirt pulls the tails of sins

untainted in my waking and my sleep.
Chaste in my vigilance and sleep
