A greeting like musk’s scent—nay, it is more fragrant;
A greeting like the fragrance of musk, but it is sweeter
And more delectable than limpid water, and sweeter;
And more delicious than sweet spring water, and purer
وأَحْلَىand sweeter مِنthan الشهدhoney المشوبِmingled بِسَلْسَلٍwith clear, sweet water

وأعذب من رِيقِ الحبيبِ وأطيبُ
And sweeter than honey mingled with clear, sweet water;
And sweeter than honey mixed with chains
And sweeter than the beloved’s saliva, and more pleasing.
And more delicious than the saliva of the beloved and sweeter

Its fragrance surpasses the scent of aromatic plants,
It surpasses the scattering of fragrances, its breath
And shames the scent of aloeswood when it is turned.
And it competes with the scent of aloeswood when it turns

A child, a middle-aged man, and a gray-haired elder are made well by them.
A child, an old man and a gray-haired would approve

And praise, that the composer did not aim wrongly
And one in torment yearns for the valley of al-Aqiq;
And yearned for the valley of ‘Aqeeq being filtered

And it was fitting that we visit your dwellings,
It would have been good if we visited your homes
Upon our heads we would hasten, not ride upon camels.
Walking quickly, not riding on camels

And you wish us to walk barefoot to visit you,
And you wish that we walk barefoot to visit you
But a desert and a vast plain lie in the way of that.
But there is wasteland before that and thorns
