Thus the days pass, state following state,
Thus pass the days, one state after another,
and the lords die out, the first followed by the next.
And the chiefs perish, one after the other.

At a leisurely pace of lifetime and haste.

Each day's morning steals from their chiefs
Every morning takes away some of their elegance
the sight of the blind or the guidance of the straying.
With the insight of blindness or the guidance of misguidance.

When a branch of them turns green, its origin withers

So it inclines until it follows the one gone.

When the remaining ones pass and the empty ones do not return.

Tombs of lights, about which the questioner asks.

With what soul on the eve of Saturday, did
by death's hand—a soul that never yielded to it as weaklings do!
The hand of death gesture without paying a price of sorrow.

And in the morning among a tribe and a family.

It cheated us of the expensive price.
