ياO مَنyou who بِمَطلَعِat the rising-place of شَمسِthe sun ثُمَّthen مَغرِبِهاits setting-place

إِنَّindeed السَخاءَgenerosity عَلَيكُمto you غَيرُnot مَردودِrestored
O you where the sun rises and then where it sets,
O you at whose rising and setting sun
Indeed, generosity will not be restored to you.
Generosity towards you is never regretted
قُلsay لِلعُفاةِto the seekers of gifts أَريحواgive rest العيسَthe pale camels مِنfrom طَلَبٍseeking
ماthere is no بَعدَafter مَعنٍMa'n حَليفِally of الجودِgenerosity مِنany جودِgenerosity
Tell the seekers of gifts: let the pale camels rest from the quest.
Tell the destitute to spare Jesus from seeking
After Ma'n, generosity's ally, there is no generosity.
No generosity after Ma'n is like his generosity
قُلsay لِلمَنِيَّةِto death لاdo not تُبقيspare عَلىupon أَحَدٍanyone
إِذsince ماتَdied مَعنٌMa'n فَماso no مَيتٌdead person بِمَفقودِmissed at all
Tell Death: spare no one,
Tell death to spare no one
Since Ma'n has died, no other dead person will be missed.
Since Ma'n died, no dead one is missed
