No enemy sees Maʿn in his courtyard

Without thinking that death outruns fate.

He is found, when the cavalry's horsemen advance,

Like a lion that grows bolder when rebuked.

Bright-faced, on the day of terror he is thought to be a maned lion,

Tawny, and above the pulpit he is thought to be the moon.
