وَأَلسُنُهُمand their tongues إِلّاexcept لِتَحبيرِfor embellishing مَنطِقِspeech
And their hands were created only for giving,
I was not created except to give freely of my palms
And their tongues only to embellish speech.
While their tongues were made only for idle prattle
فَيَوماًso on one day يُبارونَthey rival الرِياحَthe winds سَماحَةًin generosity
وَيَوماًand on another day لِبَذلِfor the giving of الخاطِبِthe orator المُتَشَدِّقِthe grandiloquent
So one day they rival the winds in generosity,
Thus one day they race the winds in generosity
And on another day, for the giving of the grandiloquent orator.
While another they vie in pretentious eloquence
