تَعَوَّدتُ قَولَ الخَيرِ في كُلِّ حالَةٍ

تَعَوَّدتُ قَولَ الخَيرِ في كُلِّ حالَةٍ

وَمَن كانَ مِثلي فَهُوَ لِلخَير قائِلُ

وَمَن كانَ مِثلي فَهُوَ لِلخَير قائِلُ

I have made a habit of speaking what is good in every circumstance;

I have grown accustomed to speaking what is good in every circumstance.

and whoever is like me is one who speaks what is good.

And whoever is like me speaks what is good.

وَلا أَعرِفُ الفَحشاءَ إِلّا بِوصفِها

وَلا أَعرِفُ الفَحشاءَ إِلّا بِوصفِها

وَغَيري لَها مِن سائرِ الناسِ فاعِلُ

وَغَيري لَها مِن سائرِ الناسِ فاعِلُ

I know obscenity only through its description,

And I know obscenity only through its description.

while someone else among the rest of mankind commits it.

While others among the rest of humankind commit it.
