جَعَلتُ عِنانَ وُدّي في يَدَيكا

جَعَلتُ عِنانَ وُدّي في يَدَيكا

فَلَم أَرَ ذاكَ يُنفَعُني لَدَيكا

فَلَم أَرَ ذاكَ يُنفَعُني لَدَيكا

I placed the reins of my affection in your hands.

I have placed my love in your hands

Yet I have not found that it avails me with you.

Yet I see that does not benefit me with you

وَقَد وَاللَهِ ضِقتُ فَلَيتَ رَبّي

وَقَد وَاللَهِ ضِقتُ فَلَيتَ رَبّي

قَضى أَجَلي عَلَيَّ وَلا عَلَيكا

قَضى أَجَلي عَلَيَّ وَلا عَلَيكا

And, by God, I have grown distressed; would that my Lord

By Allah I am weary, would that my Lord

had decreed my death upon me, and not upon you.

Had ordained my death and not yours

فَلَم أَرَ عاشِقاً لَكَ قَطُّ مِثلي

فَلَم أَرَ عاشِقاً لَكَ قَطُّ مِثلي

أَغارُ عَلَيكَ مِن نَظَري إِلَيكا

أَغارُ عَلَيكَ مِن نَظَري إِلَيكا

For I have never seen a lover of yours like me:

Never have I seen a lover like me for you

I am jealous over you even of my own gaze at you.

I am jealous of my gaze upon you
