وَحَيُّ زُبَيدٍ يَومَ حابِسَ قُتِّلوا

وَحَيُّ زُبَيدٍ يَومَ حابِسَ قُتِّلوا

وَيَومَ بَني سَعدٍ شَفَيتُ غَليلي

وَيَومَ بَني سَعدٍ شَفَيتُ غَليلي

And Zubayd's clan were slaughtered on the day of Habis.

And on the day of Banu Sa'd, I quenched my burning thirst.

وَخَثعَمَ أَروَيتُ القَنا مِن دَمائِها

وَخَثعَمَ أَروَيتُ القَنا مِن دَمائِها

بِشَفّانَ حَتّى سالَ كُلَّ مَسيلِ

بِشَفّانَ حَتّى سالَ كُلَّ مَسيلِ

And Khath'am—I slaked the spears with their blood,

At Shaffan, until it flowed down every watercourse.

وَحَيُّ تَميمٍ إِذ لَقينا وَسَعدُها

وَحَيُّ تَميمٍ إِذ لَقينا وَسَعدُها

بِرَملِ جُرادٍ أُهلِكوا بِذُحولِ

بِرَملِ جُرادٍ أُهلِكوا بِذُحولِ

And Tamim's clan and its Sa'd, when we met them,

At the sands of Jurad, were destroyed in vengeance for blood debts.
