لِيَهنكَmay it gladden you أَنِّيthat I لَمdid not أَجِدI find لَكَfor you عائِباًa faultfinder
سِوىexcept حاسِدٍan envier وَالحاسِدونَand enviers كَثيرُmany
May it gladden you that I have found no one to fault you,
Except an envier—and enviers are many;
وَأَنَّكَand that you مِثلُlike الغَيثِthe rain أَماas for نَباتُهُits vegetation
فَظِلٌّthen it is shade وَأَمّاًand as for ماؤُهُits water فَطَهورُthen it is purifying
And that you are like rain: as for the vegetation it brings,
It is shade; and as for its water, it is purifying.
