O you whom sorrow has engulfed and sleeplessness has slain,

Be gentle with yourself—what good does distress do?

All worries, by God's leave, will pass,

And your tender heart will be flooded with glad tidings.

Be patient, for the hand of fate is gentle,

And when days grow hard, ask those who have endured.

The clouds will keep their promise; do not be impatient for their glad tidings,

Even if the rain is delayed beyond its appointed time.

And God will open closed doors,

How many nights you have spent knocking on them in despair and waiting!

Such is life, so live it in hope

That our hopes will one day prevail.

The soul is sure to have a day that makes it glad,

And fate will bring joy tomorrow.
