ربّاهُ إني قد أتيتك دامِعًا

O my Lord, I have come to You in tears,

My Lord, I have come to you with tears,

Seeking forgiveness until the journey's end.

Seeking forgiveness until the end of my journey.

هيهات أن تُمحى الخطايا بالدموعْ

هيهات أن تُمحى الخطايا بالدموعْ

إن لم تجُد بالعفوِ يا ربّ البشرْ

إن لم تجُد بالعفوِ يا ربّ البشرْ

Sins can never be erased by tears

Alas, sins cannot be erased with tears,

Unless You grant forgiveness, O Lord of humankind.

Unless you show mercy, O Lord of mankind.

وأنا الذي لا زاد لي إلا الخضوعْ

وأنا الذي لا زاد لي إلا الخضوعْ

ودعاءُ أمي في السحَرْ

ودعاءُ أمي في السحَرْ

And I have no provision but submission

I have nothing left but submission,

And my mother's prayer before dawn.

And my mother's dawn prayers.

فاجعل طريقي بالسكينةِ عامراً

فاجعل طريقي بالسكينةِ عامراً

واغفر لقلبٍ ذاقَ مُرّ البُعدَ عنكَ

واغفر لقلبٍ ذاقَ مُرّ البُعدَ عنكَ

So fill my path with tranquility,

So make my path filled with serenity,

And forgive a heart that tasted the bitterness of distance from You,

And forgive a heart that has tasted the bitterness of distance from You,

وتاهَ في دربِ الشقاوةِ وانكسرْ

وتاهَ في دربِ الشقاوةِ وانكسرْ

And strayed along the path of misery and was broken.

And wandered the path of misery and broke apart.
