ياغائبين وفي الأعماق منزلكم — Majed Abdullah

ياغائبين وفي الأعماقِ منزلكُم

مازالَ يملأُ قلبي باللقا أملُ

O absent ones, your dwelling lies in the depths within.

Hope of reunion still fills my heart.

لا تحسبوا البُعدَ أنساني مودّتكم

فحبلُ وِدّيَ باقٍ ليسَ ينفصلُ

Do not think distance has made me forget your affection.

For the cord of my affection endures; it does not break.

ها قد أتى العيدُ والأشواق تأسِرُني

متى يحينُ اللقا والعينُ تكتحلُ

Behold, Eid has come, and longings hold me captive.

When will reunion come, and the eye be adorned with kohl?

فالعيدُ يزدادُ حُسناً بعدَ رؤيتكم

فتبهَجُ الروحُ والأيامُ تحتفِلُ

For Eid grows more beautiful after I see you.

So the soul rejoices, and the days celebrate.

إن باعدَتْنا ظروفٌ فوقَ طاقتِنا

فإنّ أرواحنا بالحُبّ تتّصلُ

If circumstances beyond our strength keep us apart,

Our souls are still joined through love.

لن يُوحِشَ اللهُ قلبي رغمَ لهفتهِ

لأنكم في دعائي حين أبتهلُ

God will not leave my heart desolate, despite its yearning,

For you are in my prayers when I pray earnestly.
