ورأيتُand I saw أنّيthat I فيin المنــامِthe dream أضُمّــهُI embrace him
ورأيتُ أنّي في المنــامِ أضُمّــهُ
ضـمّthe embrace of الوليـدِthe newborn لأُمّـهِto his mother فـيin المرقَـدِthe bed
ضـمّ الوليـدِ لأُمّـهِ فـي المرقَـدِ
And I saw myself in a dream, holding him close
And I saw that, in a dream, I was embracing him,
with a newborn’s embrace of his mother in bed.
as a newborn embraces his mother in bed.
فصَحَوْتُthen I awoke مِنfrom نَوميmy sleep وصُورةُand the image وجههِhis face
فصَحَوْتُ مِن نَومي وصُورةُ وجههِ
فيin ناظريmy sight كالحُلمِlike a dream، كالأملِlike hope النديdewy
في ناظري كالحُلمِ، كالأملِ الندي
Then I awoke from sleep, the image of his face
Then I awoke from my sleep, and the image of his face
still before my eyes—like a dream, like dew-fresh hope.
was before my eyes, like a dream, like dewy hope.
كمhow much للحبيبِfor the beloved مِنof المحبّةِlove فيin دميmy blood
كم للحبيبِ مِن المحبّةِ في دمي
روحيmy soul فِداهُa ransom for him وكُلand all ماthat which ملَكَتْhas possessed يديmy hand
روحي فِداهُ وكُل ما ملَكَتْ يدي
How much love for the Beloved is in my blood!
How much love for the beloved lies in my blood!
My soul be his ransom, and all that my hand possesses.
May my soul and all that my hand owns be his ransom.
سأظـلُّI shall continue طُولَthroughout العُمـرِlife أُنشِدُI sing ذكرهُremembrance of him
سأظـلُّ طُولَ العُمـرِ أُنشِدُ ذكرهُ
ياربّO Lord صـلّsend blessings علىupon الحبيبِthe beloved مُحمّـدِMuhammad
ياربّ صـلّ على الحبيبِ مُحمّـدِ
All my life, I shall go on singing of him:
I shall keep singing in remembrance of him throughout my life.
O Lord, send blessings upon the Beloved, Muhammad.
