And I asked her what clouds her serenity.

Then she wept, and her eyes overflowed with sorrow.

Indeed, I grieve if I sense her sadness.

How can I bear it if I see her weeping?!

I kissed her and wiped a tear from her eye,

Hoping I might dispel her sadness and sorrow.

She said, her tears racing ahead of her voice:

Indeed, He who created hearts is enough for them.

Let me be, for the eye's water quenches my ribs,

if their fragrance and dew have dried within them.

Some weeping, if it comes after anguish,

spares hearts sorrow and heals them.
