بِسعيكَ تبلغُ الرتبُ العظامُ

بِسعيكَ تبلغُ الرتبُ العظامُ

وَتستعدي عَلى الدهر الكرامُ

وَتستعدي عَلى الدهر الكرامُ

Through your striving, lofty ranks are attained,

Through your efforts, you attain the highest ranks

And the noble seek aid against Time.

And gain precedence over fate, you dignified one

وَمِن علياكَ تُقتبسُ المعالي

وَمِن علياكَ تُقتبسُ المعالي

وَيُملكُ من جوامحها الزمامُ

وَيُملكُ من جوامحها الزمامُ

And from your eminence, lofty attainments are drawn,

And from your heights, glories are derived

And the reins of their unruly steeds are held.

As you hold the reins of its wildness

وَهل ظَفرت بمكرمةٍ يمينٌ

وَهل ظَفرت بمكرمةٍ يمينٌ

وَليسَ لَها بعروتكَ اِعتصامُ

وَليسَ لَها بعروتكَ اِعتصامُ

And has a right hand ever won an honor

Has any glorious feat been achieved by a hand

Without holding fast to your handhold?

That your help did not make steadfast?

وَهَل بَلغت إِلى غرضٍ سهامٌ

وَهَل بَلغت إِلى غرضٍ سهامٌ

وَلَم تكُ من كنانتك السهامُ

وَلَم تكُ من كنانتك السهامُ

And have arrows ever reached a target

Has any arrow reached its destination

Without those arrows coming from your quiver?

If it was not from your capable bow?

وَهَل وافى لِغايتهِ مجلّ

وَهَل وافى لِغايتهِ مجلّ

وَلَيس لَكم بِفارسه اِهتمامُ

وَلَيس لَكم بِفارسه اِهتمامُ

And has a winning steed ever reached its goal

Has any warrior achieved his purpose

Without your concern for its rider?

Without your care and concern for him?

وَهَل مَضتِ الضرائبُ في صميمٍ

وَهَل مَضتِ الضرائبُ في صميمٍ

وَلَم يَك مِن يمينكم الحسامُ

وَلَم يَك مِن يمينكم الحسامُ

And have sword-strokes ever pierced the core

Have piercing calamities reached the core

Without the keen sword coming from your right hand?

If the sword was not from your right hand?

إِلى مَغناك ينسبُ كلّ فضلٍ

إِلى مَغناك ينسبُ كلّ فضلٍ

كَما يُعزى إِلى البحر الغمامُ

كَما يُعزى إِلى البحر الغمامُ

To your abode every excellence is ascribed,

Every merit is attributed to your support

As clouds are traced back to the sea.

As clouds are attributed to the sea

أَبا عبدِ الإلهِ فَدتكَ نَفسي

أَبا عبدِ الإلهِ فَدتكَ نَفسي

وقَد يفدي مواليه الغلامُ

وقَد يفدي مواليه الغلامُ

O Abu Abd al-Ilah, may my soul ransom you,

Oh Abu Abdillah, my soul is sacrificed for you

And a servant may indeed ransom his masters.

As your loyalists sacrifice their souls

وَحَسبي في الوَرى شرفاً ومجداً

وَحَسبي في الوَرى شرفاً ومجداً

ذمامٌ مِن قبولك لا يضامُ

ذمامٌ مِن قبولك لا يضامُ

And enough for me, as honor and glory among humankind,

In this world, it is honor and glory enough for me

Is an inviolable bond granted by your acceptance.

That you accept me, nothing else suffices

فَكيفَ وَقَد كَسا عطفيَّ مِنكم

فَكيفَ وَقَد كَسا عطفيَّ مِنكم

ثناء لَيس يُخلقهُ الدوامُ

ثناء لَيس يُخلقهُ الدوامُ

How much more, when you have clothed both my sides

How could this be when your kindness has clothed me

In praise that time cannot wear out!

With praise that is not marred by time

أَجرّ بهِ ذيولَ الفخرِ تيهاً

أَجرّ بهِ ذيولَ الفخرِ تيهاً

وَفي فمِ حاسِدي منها الرغامُ

وَفي فمِ حاسِدي منها الرغامُ

With it I trail the hems of pride in exultation,

I flaunt it, trailing the skirts of pride

And dust from them lies in my envier's mouth.

While it lodges gravel in the mouths of enviers

أَلستَ الصدرَ في رتبِ المَعالي

أَلستَ الصدرَ في رتبِ المَعالي

إِذا قُرِعَت مَنابرها الضخامُ

إِذا قُرِعَت مَنابرها الضخامُ

Are you not foremost in the ranks of eminence,

Are you not the best in the ranks of the exalted

When their mighty pulpits are ascended?

When their lofty minbars are struck?

وَما حُزتَ الرئاسة باِكتسابٍ

وَما حُزتَ الرئاسة باِكتسابٍ

كَما يسعى لنا فيها لئامُ

كَما يسعى لنا فيها لئامُ

And you did not gain leadership by seeking it,

You did not gain leadership by pursuit

As base men among us strive for it.

As the vile amongst us pursue it

وَلَكِن كانَ فضلكَ مستحقّاً

وَلَكِن كانَ فضلكَ مستحقّاً

لأن يَعلو فدان له الأنامُ

لأن يَعلو فدان له الأنامُ

Rather, your excellence deserved

But your superiority was destined

To rise, and humankind submitted to it.

For you to rise above all people

فَمَن تكنِ الرئاسةُ جمّلتهُ

فَمَن تكنِ الرئاسةُ جمّلتهُ

فَأنتَ جَمالُها وَالإحترامُ

فَأنتَ جَمالُها وَالإحترامُ

While others may be adorned by leadership,

So the leadership adorned itself with you

You are its beauty and its honor.

For you are its beauty and reverence

فُطِرتَ على مكارمَ ليسَ تُحصى

فُطِرتَ على مكارمَ ليسَ تُحصى

وَلا يعرو جَواهرها اِنقسامُ

وَلا يعرو جَواهرها اِنقسامُ

You were fashioned with noble qualities beyond counting,

You were created with endless virtues

And their essences admit no division.

That will never diminish or divide

حَويتَ كَمالها فَغدوت فرداً

حَويتَ كَمالها فَغدوت فرداً

وَقد عدَّ الكرامُ وهم توامُ

وَقد عدَّ الكرامُ وهم توامُ

You encompassed their perfection and so became unique,

You embodied its perfection and became peerless

While the noble, when counted, are twins.

Though the generous were already many

فَصاحةُ منطقٍ وذكاء فكرٍ

فَصاحةُ منطقٍ وذكاء فكرٍ

وَحُسنُ تخلّقٍ ما فيه ذامُ

وَحُسنُ تخلّقٍ ما فيه ذامُ

Eloquence of speech and keenness of thought,

Eloquent speech, astute mind

And excellence of character with no fault in it,

Excellent manners, nothing blamable

وَلطفُ فكاهةٍ كُسيَت وقاراً

وَلطفُ فكاهةٍ كُسيَت وقاراً

وَأنساً بِالسآمة لا يسامُ

وَأنساً بِالسآمة لا يسامُ

And gentle wit clothed in dignity

Subtle humor clothed in dignity

And warmth never afflicted by boredom;

And charm against gloom that has no peer

وَعلمٌ لا تكدّرهُ دلاءٌ

وَعلمٌ لا تكدّرهُ دلاءٌ

وَدينٌ لا يدنّسه حطامُ

وَدينٌ لا يدنّسه حطامُ

And knowledge that no buckets can muddy,

Knowledge that is not marred by turbidity

And faith that worldly dross cannot stain.

And faith not contaminated by rubble

يودّ جليسُكم لو صارَ سمعاً

يودّ جليسُكم لو صارَ سمعاً

وَكلّ المدركاتِ له كلامُ

وَكلّ المدركاتِ له كلامُ

Your companion wishes he could become all hearing,

Your companions wish they were but an ear

And that all he perceives might be speech to him.

And that all senses only heard your speech

نُجومٌ آلُ بيرمَ في المعالي

نُجومٌ آلُ بيرمَ في المعالي

وَأنتَ الشمس والبدر التمامُ

وَأنتَ الشمس والبدر التمامُ

The family of Bayram are stars in the heights of excellence,

The stars of Al-Bayram have risen in rank

And you are the sun and the moon in its fullness.

While you are the sun and the full moon

بَقيتُم في نحورِ الفضل عقداً

بَقيتُم في نحورِ الفضل عقداً

فريداً ليسَ يسلمه النظامُ

فريداً ليسَ يسلمه النظامُ

May you remain a necklace upon the necks of excellence,

You remain in the throats of virtue a unique pearl

Peerless, its string never letting it fall.

That order cannot touch

إِذا اِستولى على الغاياتِ كهلٌ

إِذا اِستولى على الغاياتِ كهلٌ

تَرعرعَ مِنكمُ فيها غلامُ

تَرعرعَ مِنكمُ فيها غلامُ

When a mature man attains the ultimate goals,

When an old man takes hold of the goals

A boy from among you grows up amid them.

A youth nurtured by you rises in them
