طُل بِالأميرِ لواءِ خيرِ الدينِ

باللّيثِ طُل بأسودِ أيّ عرينِ

Rise high through the emir, General Khayr al-Din.

Ask for the prince, the flag of the best of faith, Khayr al-Din

With the lion, tower above the lions of any lair.

Ask for the lion, ask for the lions of any lair

وَقدُ الكواكبِ في المواكب قذفُها

وَقدُ الكواكبِ في المواكب قذفُها

قَبَسٌ يسيعُ له الرعيل لحينِ

قَبَسٌ يسيعُ له الرعيل لحينِ

The stars’ blaze amid the processions—their discharge—

The stars in procession cast their spears before him

Is a firebrand before which the cavalry troop scatters to its doom.

A burning brand his advancing host makes its goal ere long

فَملاذُ أوزارِ الحروب لواؤهُ

فَملاذُ أوزارِ الحروب لواؤهُ

وَمدى مسير العزّ والتمكينِ

وَمدى مسير العزّ والتمكينِ

So his banner is a refuge from the burdens of war,

The refuge of the standards of war is his standard

And the goal of the march of glory and established power.

And the utmost range of power and victory

وَظلالهُ لِلمعلمينَ حماهم

وَظلالهُ لِلمعلمينَ حماهم

في حَزمهم وبضيق بؤس سنينِ

في حَزمهم وبضيق بؤس سنينِ

And its shade is a sanctuary for warriors bearing their insignia,

And his banners give protection to the protected

In their resolve and in the straits of years of misery.

In their resolve, while narrow affliction lasts for years

مَن جادَ من جاس الفوارس معلماً

مَن جادَ من جاس الفوارس معلماً

مَن ناقدَ الدنيا كخير الدينِ

مَن ناقدَ الدنيا كخير الدينِ

Who has been generous, who has ranged among the horsemen, marked for battle?

He who was generous from the cup of horsemen, being an exemplar

Who has scrutinized the world like Khayr al-Din?

He who censured the world, like Khayr al-Din
