أَمولايَ هَذا رسولٌ عنيفٌ

أَمولايَ هَذا رسولٌ عنيفٌ

يَنالُ بِإلحاحهِ ما اِمتَنع

يَنالُ بِإلحاحهِ ما اِمتَنع

O my lord, this is a harsh messenger,

My friend, this is an ardent messenger

who obtains through his insistence what was withheld.

Who obtains by his insistence what was denied

وَلكنّني حيثُ لَم ألف بدّاً

وَلكنّني حيثُ لَم ألف بدّاً

لأُسعفَ خادَعتهُ فَاِنخَدع

لأُسعفَ خادَعتهُ فَاِنخَدع

But since I found no way

But since I could find no way out

to oblige him, I tricked him, and he was taken in.

I will humor his deception, so I was deceived

فَإِن أنتَ ناواكَ في الدهرِ صعبٌ

فَإِن أنتَ ناواكَ في الدهرِ صعبٌ

فَقاتِل بسعدٍ وإلّا فَدَع

فَقاتِل بسعدٍ وإلّا فَدَع

So if a hardship confronts you in life,

So if you find fate difficult in this life

then fight with good fortune; otherwise, let it be.

Then fight with good fortune, otherwise leave it be
