يا سيّد العلماءِ علماً راسخاً

يا سيّد العلماءِ علماً راسخاً

وَتقىً ومجداً شامخاً ومكارما

وَتقىً ومجداً شامخاً ومكارما

O master of scholars in firmly rooted knowledge,

O master of scholars, with established knowledge,

and piety, lofty glory, and noble virtues.

And piety, towering glory, and nobility.

هَذا رَسولي اِبن الإمامِ أتاكمُ

هَذا رَسولي اِبن الإمامِ أتاكمُ

مُستهدياً تُحَفاً تروقُ الصائما

مُستهدياً تُحَفاً تروقُ الصائما

This messenger of mine, Ibn al-Imam, has come to you,

This is my messenger, son of the Imam, who came to you

seeking fine gifts that delight the fasting man.

Seeking guidance, adorned, fasting makes him radiant.

مِنها نشوقٌ قَد تَطابقَ عرفهُ

مِنها نشوقٌ قَد تَطابقَ عرفهُ

طيباً وَعنصره فَأنعش ناسما

طيباً وَعنصره فَأنعش ناسما

Among them is snuff, whose fragrance matches

From it a yearning that matches his manner,

its substance in pleasantness, reviving whoever breathes it in.

Sweet, his being so it revived the smiling.

وَمشاربٌ تَحكي شذاً وعذوبةً

وَمشاربٌ تَحكي شذاً وعذوبةً

ظلمَ الحسانِ العاطِراتِ مباسما

ظلمَ الحسانِ العاطِراتِ مباسما

And drinks that resemble, in fragrance and sweetness,

And drinks that tell of aroma and sweetness,

the moisture of beauties’ fragrant, smiling mouths.

The darkness of beautiful smiles obscured.

فَاِبعَث بِها لفمٍ بِذكرك يلتجي

فَاِبعَث بِها لفمٍ بِذكرك يلتجي

حبّاً وَأَنفاً عَن سِواك تشامما

حبّاً وَأَنفاً عَن سِواك تشامما

So send them to a mouth that seeks refuge in mentioning you,

So send through him to a mouth mentioning you

out of love and disdain for sniffing after anyone but you.

Love, and a nose turning away from other than you disgusted.

وَبَقيتَ نَستهديكَ نجماً طالعاً

وَبَقيتَ نَستهديكَ نجماً طالعاً

أَبداً ونَستهديك بحراً فاعما

أَبداً ونَستهديك بحراً فاعما

And may you remain a rising star whose guidance we seek,

And you remained a star we seek guidance from rising forever

forever, and a brimming sea whose gifts we seek.

And we seek your guidance as a raging sea.
