ياO ثغرُfrontier stronghold حيّيتmay you be blessed بِالمُرابِطwith the stationed defender
يا ثغرُ حيّيت بِالمُرابِط
كَمhow many لَكyou have مِنof حاسدٍan envier وغابِطand one who envies without malice
كَم لَك مِن حاسدٍ وغابِط
O frontier stronghold, blessed are you with the stationed defender!
O mouth that I greeted with a kiss
How many an envier and wistful admirer you have!
How many envious and spiteful ones you have
أَوقدَkindled فيكَwithin you الأميرُthe emir نوراًa light
أَوقدَ فيكَ الأميرُ نوراً
يَهديguides إِلىto الرشدِthe right path كلّevery خابِطstumbling wanderer
يَهدي إِلى الرشدِ كلّ خابِط
The emir has kindled a light within you,
The prince has ignited in you a light
Guiding every stumbling wanderer to the right path.
That guides to righteousness everyone who gropes
حاطَكَhe surrounded you لكنbut بسورِwith a wall of عزمٍresolve
حاطَكَ لكن بسورِ عزمٍ
لِعملِfor the efforts of الحاسدينَthe envious حابِطrendering futile
لِعملِ الحاسدينَ حابِط
Yet he has surrounded you with a wall of resolve,
Yet he has surrounded you with a fence of resolve
Thwarting the efforts of the envious.
Against the foiled deeds of the envious
تَخفقُflutter أَحشاؤُهمtheir innards ولكنand yet
تَخفقُ أَحشاؤُهم ولكن
فُؤادكَyour heart المطمئنّthe tranquil رابِطsteadfast
فُؤادكَ المطمئنّ رابِط
Their innards flutter, and yet
Their intestines writhe but
Your tranquil heart stands steadfast.
Your serene heart is steadfast
يُمسيenters the evening بكَthrough you الدينُthe faith وَهوwhile it is عالٍexalted
يُمسي بكَ الدينُ وَهو عالٍ
وَيصبحُand enters the morning وَهوwhile it is هابِطdescending
وَيصبحُ وَهو هابِط
Through you, the faith is exalted at evening,
Religion spends the night with you exalted
And at morning it is descending.
And wakes while abased
عمّرَكَmay He keep you flourishing اللّهGod مِنas a رباطٍfrontier outpost
عمّرَكَ اللّه مِن رباطٍ
مُرابطٌa stationed defender فيهِwithin it خيرُthe finest ضابِطofficer
مُرابطٌ فيهِ خيرُ ضابِط
May God keep you flourishing as a frontier outpost,
May God make you endure from a fortress
Its stationed defender the finest officer.
