مَولاي وافتني تحيّتك الّتي

مَولاي وافتني تحيّتك الّتي

ضاءَت بِطلعَتها جميعُ جهاتي

ضاءَت بِطلعَتها جميعُ جهاتي

My lord, your greeting has reached me, which

My Master, your greeting reached me,

Lit up all my surroundings with its appearance.

Its dawn illuminated all my sides,

وَسَرى نسيمُ البرء في عللي بِها

وَسَرى نسيمُ البرء في عللي بِها

وَأنارَتِ البشرى محيّا حياتي

وَأنارَتِ البشرى محيّا حياتي

And through it, the breeze of healing coursed through my ailments,

The breeze of innocence blew through my ailments with it,

And glad tidings illumined the face of my life.

And the good news lit up the life in me,

وَأَرى ذُنوبي في الدُنوّ تزيدني

وَأَرى ذُنوبي في الدُنوّ تزيدني

قُربى لديكَ كأنّها حَسَناتي

قُربى لديكَ كأنّها حَسَناتي

And I see my sins, as I draw near, bringing me greater

And I see my sins in life increase my

Closeness to you, as though they were my good deeds.

Closeness to you as if they were my good deeds,

لا زلت تَلحَظُني بِكم عينُ الرضا

لا زلت تَلحَظُني بِكم عينُ الرضا

فَترى الرضى وتغضّ عن عثراتي

فَترى الرضى وتغضّ عن عثراتي

May the eye of favor always regard me through you,

You still look at me with such eyes of approval

Thus seeing what pleases and overlooking my stumbles.

You see approval and overlook my stumbles,

لَم يثنِ عَزمي عن طروقِ حماكمُ

لَم يثنِ عَزمي عن طروقِ حماكمُ

لولا اِحتشام قَد ثَنى عَزماتي

لولا اِحتشام قَد ثَنى عَزماتي

Nothing would have turned my resolve from visiting your sanctuary,

My determination to visit you was not deterred

But for diffidence that has curbed my resolutions.

If not for my shyness which held back my determination,

أَكرم بمولى قد تفقّد عبدهُ

أَكرم بمولى قد تفقّد عبدهُ

مَع طول غيبته عن الخدماتِ

مَع طول غيبته عن الخدماتِ

How generous is a master who has inquired after his servant,

I was blessed with a Master who checked on his servant

Despite his long absence from service.

Despite his long absence from service,

أهدي إليهِ تحيّة نَفَحاتها

أهدي إليهِ تحيّة نَفَحاتها

مسكيّة وافته من جنّاتِ

مسكيّة وافته من جنّاتِ

I offer him a greeting whose fragrant breaths

I send him greetings, their scent

Are musk-scented; it has reached him from gardens.

Musky, having reached me from gardens.
