Lo, in God's keeping her childbed came to its end.

So her eyes found comfort there, and her sorrow vanished.

Indeed, Time's two hands plucked a blossom from her,

Whose planting is pure in the meadows of noble virtues.

Yes, death made her drink a bitter cup,

So no wonder her cup rent the gallbladders.

A young woman who answered God's caller willingly,

And freely gave her soul, undeterred by its unruliness.

Though in matters of faith she was unyielding.

    Secluded in chastity and protection,

Modesty's garment was her clothing throughout life.

Her good hope in God will comfort her,

And her despair will estrange her from all but God.

For most of her striving was to please Him,

And she guarded herself against all that did not please Him.

If indeed this grave is graced by her, a matchless pearl,

Then her slipping away has surely shaken the royal strand.

And though her right hand's flood has ebbed in this grave,

Yet how many a parched liver its outpouring has quenched!

Her sun fell just after sunrise, and left behind

Crescents of glory whose borrowing of light was not yet complete.

And their God is better for those she has left behind,

And what is with Him is better for her—not her clothing.

To chambers whose foundation is reverence for God.

Her slumber grew sweet in the garden of this grave.

She met her end after childbed; so record the date:

Lo, in God's keeping her childbed came to its end.
