إِذا صَرمَ الزمانُ عُرى حِبالِك

إِذا صَرمَ الزمانُ عُرى حِبالِك

وَضيّقَ مِن تَخلّصكَ المَسالِك

وَضيّقَ مِن تَخلّصكَ المَسالِك

If time severs the loops of your ropes,

When time unravels your ropes

And narrows the paths of your escape,

And narrows the paths of your escape

وَسامكَ صَرفُهُ بِالضيمِ فَاِصبِر

وَسامكَ صَرفُهُ بِالضيمِ فَاِصبِر

لَعلَ اللّه يحدِث بعد ذلك

لَعلَ اللّه يحدِث بعد ذلك

And its vicissitudes subject you to injustice, then be patient;

And oppresses you with injustice, be patient

Perhaps God will bring something about after that.

Perhaps Allah will bring about after that something good
