O neighbors of the Nile, may God bless your arrival!
O neighbor of the Nile, may God welcome you
We do not regard you as guests in Egypt.
We do not consider you strangers in Egypt

You have indeed lodged among a company of your own kin,
You have descended among a group of your kinsmen
And have visited homelands in place of your own.
And have visited homelands instead of homelands

When you came as guests to classical Arabic in her abode,
When you descended upon cultured Egypt
Its very foundations and walls almost welcomed you.
Its foundations and walls almost bid you welcome

We honor in your persons a homeland
We honor in your persons a homeland
Which, were Egypt pictured as an eye, would be its pupil.
If Egypt were depicted as an eye, it would be a human being

ففيمwhy, then نقْسِمُهُdo we divide it: مصرًاEgypt وسوداناand Sudan؟
The Nile—the Most Merciful has united its valley;
The Nile, God has unified its valley
Why, then, do we divide it into Egypt and Sudan?
Why then should we divide it: Egypt and Sudan?
