هَواكَ وَلا تكذب عَلَيكَ أَميرُ

هَواكَ وَلا تكذب عَلَيكَ أَميرُ

وَأَنتَ رَهينٌ في يَدَيهِ أَسيرُ

وَأَنتَ رَهينٌ في يَدَيهِ أَسيرُ

Your desire—do not lie—is a ruler over you.

Your love, I do not lie to you my prince

And you are a hostage in its hands, a captive.

While you are captive in his hands, prisoner

يَسومُكَ عِصياناً وَأَنتَ تُطيعُهُ

يَسومُكَ عِصياناً وَأَنتَ تُطيعُهُ

وَطاعَتُهُ عارٌ عَلَيكَ كَثيرُ

وَطاعَتُهُ عارٌ عَلَيكَ كَثيرُ

It demands disobedience of you, and you obey it.

He accuses you of disobedience, yet you obey

And obedience to it is a great disgrace to you.

And obeying him brings much shame upon you
