هَذا مُحالٌ في القِياسِ بَديعُ

You disobey God while professing your love for Him.

You disobey God while professing your love for Him

This is, by reason's measure, an astonishing impossibility.

This is impossible to reconcile, uniquely absurd

لَو كانَ حُبُّكَ صادِقاً لأَطَعتَهُ

لَو كانَ حُبُّكَ صادِقاً لأَطَعتَهُ

إِنَّ المُحِبَّ لِمَن يُحِبُّ مُطيعُ

إِنَّ المُحِبَّ لِمَن يُحِبُّ مُطيعُ

If your love were sincere, you would obey Him.

If your love were true, you would obey Him

Indeed, the lover obeys the one he loves.

For the lover is obedient to the beloved

في كُلِّ يَومٍ يَبتَليكَ بِنِعمَةٍ

في كُلِّ يَومٍ يَبتَليكَ بِنِعمَةٍ

مِنهُ وَأَنتَ لِشُكرِ ذاكَ مُضيعُ

مِنهُ وَأَنتَ لِشُكرِ ذاكَ مُضيعُ

Each day He tests you with a blessing

Each day He tests you with favors

From Him, while you neglect to give thanks for it.

From Him, yet you fail in thanking the Bestower
