ياO خاضِبَdyer of الشَيبَةgray hair نُحmourn فَقدَهاits loss
يا خاضِبَ الشَيبَة نُح فَقدَها
فَإِنَّماfor only تُدرِجُهاyou wrap it فيin كَفَنa shroud
فَإِنَّما تُدرِجُها في كَفَن
O you who dye your gray hair, mourn its loss,
O you who dye gray hair, give it up, for you only shroud it in a winding sheet.
for you are only wrapping it in a shroud.
Do you not see that ever since you cast eyes upon it, it increases on the head as the body wastes away?
أَماdo you not تَراهاyou see it مُنذُsince عايَنتَهاyou beheld it
أَما تَراها مُنذُ عايَنتَها
تَزيدُit increases فيon الرَأسِthe head بِنَقصِwith the waning of البَدَنthe body
تَزيدُ في الرَأسِ بِنَقصِ البَدَن
Do you not see how, since you beheld it,
it increases on the head as the body wanes?
