سَأَترُكُI shall leave هَذاthis البابَthe door مادامَas long as إِذنُهُits permission to enter
كَعَهديas in my experience بِهِwith it حَتّىuntil يَخِفَّit becomes easier قَليلاa little
I shall leave this door alone, so long as permission to enter
I shall leave this door alone as long as permission to enter it remains
remains as I have known it—until it grows a little easier.
As I have known it, until it becomes a little easier.
وَماand not خابَfailed مَنwhoever لَمdid not يَأَتِهِcome to it مُتَعَمِّداًdeliberately

No one has failed who did not deliberately come to it,
And none who deliberately stayed away from it has failed,
nor has anyone triumphed who gained access through it.
Nor has anyone who gained access through it succeeded.

Our allotted sustenance was never placed in the hands of a man
Nor were our livelihoods placed in the hand of a man
who has barred his door against anyone gaining entry.
Who guarded his door against entry.
إِذاif لَمdo not أَجِدI find يَوماًone day إِلىto الإِذنِpermission to enter سُلَّماًa ladder
وَجَدتُI found إِلىto تَركِgiving up المَجيءِcoming سَبيلاa path
If one day I find no ladder leading up to permission,
If one day I find no ladder to admission,
I shall find a way to stop coming.
I find a path to giving up my visits.
