يَبقىremains خِلافكَafter you مُصلِحٌa good steward أَوor مُفسِدُa squanderer
Enjoy your wealth in life, for only
Be content with what you own in life, for only
A good steward or a squanderer remains after you.
A reformer or corruptor will remain after you.
فَإِذاso if تركتyou leave لِمُفسِدٍto a squanderer لَمdid not يُبقِهِhe preserves it
وَأَخوand a man of الصَلاحِrighteousness قَليلُهُhis little wealth يَتَزَيَّدُkeeps increasing
If you leave it to a squanderer, he will not preserve it;
So if you leave it to a corruptor, he will not preserve it,
And a righteous man's little wealth keeps increasing.
And the reformer - his little will increase.
فَإِذاso if اِستَطَعتَyou can فَكُنthen be لِنَفسِكَfor yourself وارِثاًan heir
إِنَّindeed المُوَرِّثَthe one who makes an heir نَفسَهُhimself لَمُسَدَّدُsurely rightly guided
So, if you can, be your own heir:
So if you are able, be a benefactor to yourself,
Indeed, he who makes himself his heir is rightly guided.
For one who makes himself an heir is truly guided.
