Abu Uthman’s chickens are a more distant prospect,
Abu Uthman's chickens are farther from view,
And longer-lived than the sun and moon.
And longer-lived than the sun and moon.
فَإِنso if لَمnot نَمُتwe die حَتّىuntil نَفوزَwe succeed بِأَكلِهاin eating them

If we do not die before we have the good fortune to eat them,
So if we do not die until we get to eat them,
I shall live, by God’s leave, as long as trees put forth leaves.
I shall live, by God's leave, as long as trees put forth leaves.
