نهنى إمامَ المسلمين بغرفةٍ

نهنى إمامَ المسلمين بغرفةٍ

تعالتْ بعلياهُ على كلِّ منزلِ

تعالتْ بعلياهُ على كلِّ منزلِ

We congratulate the Imam of the Muslims on a chamber

We congratulate the leader of Muslims with a chamber

that rose, through his eminence, above every dwelling.

That towers over every home with its upper rooms

تعالتْ علوّاً سامِكاً في الذرى على

تعالتْ علوّاً سامِكاً في الذرى على

ذرى كلِّ نجمٍ في السموات معتلى

ذرى كلِّ نجمٍ في السموات معتلى

It rose to a towering height among the summits, above

It towers high and thick amidst the homes

the summits of every star aloft in the heavens.

Above the homes of each star lodged in the heavens

حكت جنةَ الفردوسِ معنىً وصورةً

حكت جنةَ الفردوسِ معنىً وصورةً

فقاطنها طهرٌ ومالكها وَلِى

فقاطنها طهرٌ ومالكها وَلِى

It mirrored the Garden of Paradise in essence and form;

It depicted the essence and image of the Garden of Paradise

for its dweller is purity itself, and its owner a saint.

So its dweller is pure and its owner a guardian

فراقتْ ورقَّتْ واستنارتْ وزينتْ

فراقتْ ورقَّتْ واستنارتْ وزينتْ

بمرأى مليكٍ بالندى متفضلِ

بمرأى مليكٍ بالندى متفضلِ

So it grew lovely and delicate, shone, and was adorned

It shone, flourished, illuminated and adorned

by the sight of a king lavish with bounty.

In the view of a King, gracious with dew

لقد فضلتْ بنتاً على أخواتها

لقد فضلتْ بنتاً على أخواتها

كما فضلتَ آيُ الكتاب المنزَّلِ

كما فضلتَ آيُ الكتاب المنزَّلِ

Indeed, as a daughter, it surpassed its sisters,

Indeed it excelled a daughter over her sisters

just as the verses of the revealed Book excelled [vocalization unclear].

As You excelled verses of the Revealed Book

ويجسدها من أجله كلُّ موضع

ويجسدها من أجله كلُّ موضع

من الأرضِ من سهلٍ سواها وأجْبُلِ

من الأرضِ من سهلٍ سواها وأجْبُلِ

And for his sake, every place embodies it [possibly intended: envies it],

And every land embodies it for its sake

on earth—plains other than it, and mountains.

Whether it be plains or mountains

يَدِقُّ على الأفهامِ والفكر وصفُها

يَدِقُّ على الأفهامِ والفكر وصفُها

فأوصافُنا عنها جميعاً بمرحلِ

فأوصافُنا عنها جميعاً بمرحلِ

Its description is too subtle for understanding and thought;

It rings true to minds, thoughts and description

so all our descriptions stand a journey's stage away from it.

So our descriptions compared to it are lacking
