O Balʿarab, the king, the just imam,

You are the noble youth; through you the just man stands firm.

May none who hopes for your generous bounty be disappointed

Among these mortals; but the reproacher meets disappointment.

You are the vast, surging ocean, the sea whose

Bounty puts the unhurried giver to shame.

So it is as though you made a covenant with yourself, or swore

An oath that no petitioner should be disappointed.

And when the noble vie in boasting of hardships,

And vie one day in excellence, you are the foremost.

And when armored warriors hang back in a strait,

Or draw back, you are the lion that presses forward.
