أعوذ بك اللهم من فقر ساعة

كما بك من سوء الأذى نتعوَّذُ

I seek refuge in You, O God, from even an hour of poverty;

أرى كل شر كان في الفقر وحده

وذو الفقر لا يدرى إلى أين ينفذ

وذو الفقر لا يدرى إلى أين ينفذ

I see every evil lodged in poverty alone;

I see that every evil is found in poverty alone,

and the poor man does not know where he may end up.

and the poor man does not know where to go.
