He is a burden to all mankind because of his arrogance.
Heavy upon all mankind is he who is arrogant,
And were the earth just, it would swallow up his body.
And if the earth were just, it would split open with his body.
ولوand if علِمknew العاصونَthe sinners فيin شرِّthe worst of دارهمtheir abode
ولو علِم العاصونَ في شرِّ دارهم

شريكاً لهم هذا المذمَّمُ لم يرضُوا
And if the sinners knew, in their worst abode,
And if the wicked knew, in their terrible abode,
This reviled man as their partner, they would not consent.
That this despised one was their partner, they would not be pleased.
فياso, O داءaffliction مَنwhoever يرنُوgazes إلىat قبحِthe ugliness of وجههhis face
فيا داء مَن يرنُو إلى قبحِ وجهه
وياand O مَنone whom علىupon كلِّall الورىmankind بغضهُhatred of him فرضُa duty
ويا مَن على كلِّ الورى بغضهُ فرضُ
So, O affliction of anyone who gazes at his ugly face,
Oh, the affliction of one who inclines towards the ugliness of his face,
And O you whom all mankind is duty-bound to hate!
And oh, the one whom hatred of all mankind has been imposed upon.

Indeed, the whole world has grown narrow for me
The world has indeed narrowed around me, with all its expanse,
Because of his character—as have the tablet, length, and breadth.
Because of his manners, and its length, and width, and breadth.
