حبيبٌa beloved لوif أنّthat الأرضَthe earth تخبرُtells بالذىof what
حبيبٌ لو أنّ الأرضَ تخبرُ بالذى
بهاwithin it منهfor him شوقاًlonging للورىto humankind حسدواthey would envy الأرضَاthe earth
بها منه شوقاً للورى حسدوا الأرضَا
A beloved—if the earth revealed the longing
it bears for him, humankind would envy the earth.
ولوand if أنّthat جناتِthe gardens النبيينof the prophets خُيِّرتْwere given a choice
ولو أنّ جناتِ النبيين خُيِّرتْ
بهby him وبهمand by them قسْماI swear لقالتْthey would surely say بِهwith him أَرْضَىI am content
به وبهم قسْما لقالتْ بِه أَرْضَى
And if the gardens of the prophets were given a choice,
by him and by them I swear, they would say, 'With him I am content.'
ومنand one who تَاهَتvaunted itself الدنياthe world علىover أهلهاits people بهthrough him
ومن تَاهَت الدنيا على أهلها به
كعيسىlike Jesus نبىِّthe prophet اللَّهِof God تُشْفَىare healed بهthrough him المرضَىthe sick
كعيسى نبىِّ اللَّهِ تُشْفَى به المرضَى
And one through whom the world vaunted itself over its people—
like Jesus, God's prophet, through him the sick are healed.
