فاخَرَتني بِيَشكُرَ بنِ بَكرِ

فاخَرَتني بِيَشكُرَ بنِ بَكرِ

وَأَهلِ قُرّانَ وَأَهلِ حَجرِ

وَأَهلِ قُرّانَ وَأَهلِ حَجرِ

She vied with me in boasting of Yashkur son of Bakr,

You boast to me of Yashkur son of Bakr,

And the people of Qurran and the people of Hajr,

And the people of Qurran and Hajar,

وَالزُنمَتَينِ عِندَ سَيفِ البَحرِ

وَالزُنمَتَينِ عِندَ سَيفِ البَحرِ

ذاكَ أَوانَ اِفتَقَرَت لِلنَصرِ

ذاكَ أَوانَ اِفتَقَرَت لِلنَصرِ

And al-Zunmatayn by the seashore—

And the two tribes by the sword of the sea,

That was when she stood in need of aid.

That was a time when you were in need of aid.
