How many wretched orphans have you restored from brokenness,
So many destitute orphans you have relieved of distress,
and clothed, after nakedness, in garments of their own;
And clothed them, after nakedness, in their garments;

A young man who, through beneficence, surpassed—unchallenged—
A young man who, through kindness, became the unchallenged leader of
all Quraysh’s elders and all its youth.
The mature men of all Quraysh and its youths.

I see them as shining beacons of right guidance,
He showed them the shining beacons of guidance,
and he concurred with their sound counsel and right judgment.
And followed the sound guidance and right course found in them.

With gentleness he tamed whatever he wished; and unceasing was
And gently tamed what he wished; unceasing was
his disciplining, until he had subdued its refractory ones.
His taming, until he subdued their unruly ones.
