وَنَعودُand we visit in sickness سَيِّدَناour lord وَسَيِّدَand the lord of غَيرِناthose other than us
وَنَعودُ سَيِّدَنا وَسَيِّدَ غَيرِنا
لَيتَwould that التَشَكِّيَcomplaining of pain كانَwere بِالعُوّادِupon those visiting the sick
لَيتَ التَشَكِّيَ كانَ بِالعُوّادِ
And we visit our lord in sickness, the lord of others too.
And we shall return, O our master, and master of all
Would that his suffering were borne by those who visit him.
Would that lamenting could restore the departed
لَوif كانَwas يَقبَلُhe accepts فِديَةًa ransom لَفَديتُهُI would ransom him
لَو كانَ يَقبَلُ فِديَةً لَفَديتُهُ

If he would accept a ransom, I would ransom him
Had it been possible to offer my soul as ransom, I would have redeemed him
With the choicest of my newly acquired and inherited wealth.
With the Most Chosen of my people and possessions
