سأبكيك للدنيا وللدِّين إِنني

سأبكيك للدنيا وللدِّين إِنني

رأيت يدُ المعروف بعدك شُلَّتِ

رأيت يدُ المعروف بعدك شُلَّتِ

I shall weep for you, for this world and for the faith; indeed, I

I will cry for you, for this life and faith, I swear

have seen the hand of kindness paralyzed after you.

I saw the hand of kindness after you was paralyzed

فدامتْ عليك بالسلام تحيةً

فدامتْ عليك بالسلام تحيةً

ملائكةُ الله الكرام وَصلَّتِ

ملائكةُ الله الكرام وَصلَّتِ

So may they forever greet you with peace—

So may the angels of Allah greet you with peace

God's noble angels—and pray for you.

The honorable ones prayed and connected with you

فأيَّ فتى دين ودنيا تلمست

فأيَّ فتى دين ودنيا تلمست

بدَبْر حَنِيناء المنايا فدُلتِ

بدَبْر حَنِيناء المنايا فدُلتِ

What a young man of faith and worldly life was sought out

So which young man of faith and life have you touched

at Dabr Ḥanīnāʾ by the Fates, who were guided to him!

With the steps of yearning, death has guided you

تعطلت الدنيا به بعد موته

تعطلت الدنيا به بعد موته

وكانت لنا حيناً به قد تحلَّتِ

وكانت لنا حيناً به قد تحلَّتِ

With his loss, the world was left unadorned after his death,

The world was disrupted by him after his death

though for a time it had been adorned for us through him.

And it was for us once adorned by him
