نَكُبُّ الكُماةَ لِأَذقانِها

نَكُبُّ الكُماةَ لِأَذقانِها

إِذا كانَ يَومٌ طَويلُ الذَنَب

إِذا كانَ يَومٌ طَويلُ الذَنَب

We cast the armored warriors down upon their chins,

When the day has a long tail.

كَذاكَ الزَمانُ وَتَصريفُهُ

كَذاكَ الزَمانُ وَتَصريفُهُ

وَتِلكَ فَوارِسُ يَومِ العِنَب

وَتِلكَ فَوارِسُ يَومِ العِنَب

Such are time and its vicissitudes,

And those are the horsemen of the Day of al-ʿInab.
